Pre-Ban Scrimshawed 455 g Sperm Whale Tooth – Sailing Ships & Maritime Scene

This impressive pre-ban 455 g sperm whale tooth features a colorful and highly detailed maritime scrimshaw scene depicting a fleet of sailing vessels at sea. The central subject is a large, beautifully rendered red-sailed sailing ship, accompanied by several smaller ships on the horizon. Above the vessels is a blue sky with stylized clouds and flying seabirds, creating a classic nautical composition.

Adding to the maritime character, the upper portion of this 455 g Sperm Whale Tooth features a harpooner or maritime figure with a harpoon, while the surrounding artwork incorporates detailed black engraving and colored scrimshaw work. The combination of red, blue, black, and natural ivory tones gives this piece considerably more visual impact than a traditional monochrome scrimshaw.

This 455 g Sperm Whale Tooth has a particularly attractive natural form, with a broad, gently curved surface that provides an excellent canvas for the extensive artwork.
